How to use these hooks

  • Start in the middle of the story, at the moment things change. Skip the background.
  • Don't give the ending away in the hook. The question it raises is what keeps people watching.
  • Tie the product to the turning point, not the intro: it should be part of how things changed.

Questions

What is a storytelling hook?

An opening line that starts a story at its most interesting point and holds back the ending, so the viewer keeps watching to find out what happened.

Do storytelling hooks work for ads?

Yes. Storytime-style ads feel like content, not ads, and people watch longer. Keep the product inside the story, as part of the turning point.

How long can a storytelling video be?

As long as each moment raises a new question. 30 to 60 seconds is common; cut anything that doesn't move the story forward.
